Mosquito nets for Tanzania programme
One long-lasting insecticide-treated bed net (ITN) costs less than USD5 and can protect against malaria for five years. The Tanzanian National Insecticide Treated Nets (NATNETS) programme aims to deliver 200,000 such bed nets to families with small children in the two districts with the highest child mortality in the country.
Tanzania is among the African countries with the highest number of infant deaths from malaria. Experience with other African countries has shown that the use of long-lasting insecticide-treated bed nets can drastically reduce infant mortality from malaria.
